Arugam Bay beach is situated in the Ampara district of Sri Lanka, 320 km away from Colombo. The distance from Ella is 134 km, and the distance from Kandy is 213 km. For that, you should first come to Pothuvil, and then you should travel 4-5 km to reach the place. The surrounding area is home to a diverse religious population, the majority of whom are Muslims.

The beach is so attractive and superb for water activities. The blue ocean with gently rolling waves is ideal for swimming with joy. Location

Hiriketiya Beach is situated in the Matara District of the Southern Province. It’s a narrow bay. The area and surroundings are comprised of many palm trees. The distance from Colombo is 193km and from Galle is 64km. However, it’s not far away from Matara City and it’s about 21km. You can easily come to Matara via the Southern Expressway from Colombo. Unfortunately, there are no train roads nearby. Dickwella is the closest town to the beach, and it is 2km away. Busses are available from Matara to Dickwella. You can then easily access the location by tuk tuk.

Nilaveli Beach is another popular and beautiful coastal area in Sri Lanka. It is situated in Nilaveli village in the Trincomalee District of Eastern Province. The distance from Tricomalee to Nilaveli is 16km. It takes around 25 minutes to reach there. The distance from Colombo to Nilaveli Beach is 280km.

Trincomalee is a major city in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. It is very popular due to its natural harbour. The majority of the people in this area are Tamil. You need to turn your vehicle on to Pulmoddai road in Tincomalee to reach the Nilaveli beach. Google Maps will direct you to the final location.

Nilaveli is a beach with white sands and moderate waves. It is much wider than other beaches in Sri Lanka. A suitable place for surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, boat tours, and sunbathing. That has attracted many local and international tourists to the place. But it is less crowded than the other beaches in the south of Sri Lanka.

From the beach, you can see an island around 2 kilometers away. It is called Pigeon Island National Park” and is a rich place for bio-diversity. It is further considered as one of the two marine national parks in the region. A boat safari to Pigeon Island is another awesome activity that you can experience in Nilaveli. You can see many species of plants, different fish types, and corals around the island.

October–February is the rainy season in the Eastern Province. Average annual rainfall is around 1250mm–1500mm, and the average annual temperature is around 27°C–34°C. Wind speeds are much higher in the June and December months.
